

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman reported 595 traffic deaths and 1,597 injuries from 1,545 accidents in 2025, according to the annual report of the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
At the same time, the number of accidents dropped from 2,040 in 2023 to 1,854 in 2024 and 1,545 in 2025. The number of deaths from accidents, however, remained same - 595 in 2025, 586 in 2024, and 595 in 2023.
The Sultanate also saw 107 pedestrian deaths due to accidents in 2025, including 21 women.
Of these, 89 traffic accident deaths were reported in the Muscat Governorate, 90 in Dhofar, 99 in Al Dhakhilyah, 72 in North al Batinah, 64 in South al Batinah, and 51 in Al Dhahirah.
Muscat reported the maximum accidents (271), followed by Dhofar (237), Al Dhakhilyah (240), and South al Batinah (246).
Musandam (26) and Al Dhahirah reported (70) the least number of accidents.
The majority of accidents were due to collisions between vehicles (661), run over (320), falls (312), and collisions with fixed objects (252).
A total of 354 Omanis, including 67, lost their lives in accidents compared to 241 expatriates, including 31 females.
The number of accidents due to the speed has dropped from 1,009 in 2023 to 768 in 2024 and 674 in 2025.
